One Year later...

I am a full year in! The other day on my FB, it popped up that I showed a house for the first time alone. Hard to believe I have come this far. Let me just update you a little. I have been involved in about 10-12 deals all in all. Still loving it!
I quit Weight Watchers, and went with a better, faster diet, it worked great, I lost an unbelievable amount of weight, then went to work with a past client, working like 60 hours a week, and lost all control, right back were I started, and right back to Weight Watchers. It really is the best plan out there, and it works, if you do it!
I am in day 2 of tracking, right now not even worried so much about what I eat, just tracking.
Today, after church, went out to lunch with the hubs, I skipped the coke, because I was tracking, and also skipped the burger bun. Small changes over time right?

Where are you in your goals?
Me  = Today ~ 371.5, Tracking, Feeling good I started back, next meeting, Friday!

My house was unlocked?? For how long???

As I am showing homes, I am amazed at how many of them are left unlocked, leaving people's most valuable possession completely accessible to anyone who tries to enter...

The biggest offense I see, combination locks. These are locks in which the Realtor or agent is given a combination by the selling agent, or the showing service. You go to the house, and enter this code. A lot of times, depending on the type of combination lock this is, some of the "doors" that hide the keys don't close properly, or the agent that last showed the house didn't scramble the numbers, often I even see the combination being something so obvious you can try a couple different numbers, and boom, you are in.

I have also gone to homes, and as soon as I put the key in the door, it just opens... Wow!

The Texas Pride Difference?
We won't use Combo locks, we only use the Supra Electronic Lock Boxes. This device keeps a key safely in the lock box, unable to be accessed without an electronic device, either a phone and a key fob, or a device made especially for opening the boxes. To get and use these devices, you have to be registered, they can be programmed so they can only be accessed during a certain time frame, and it tracks who has accessed them. So, even if you find someone has left a door unlocked, you can determine who was the last to have access to the home.

I have seen unauthorized people enter a house through use of misuse of combination boxes, don't let your house be one of them, if using a Realtor to sell your home, insist they use a Supra box, or other Monitored combination box and help keep your home safe!

If you are a fellow Realtor, how do you ensure you keep homes safe? Do you have a physical or mental check list?  Have you started to drive away, and had to go back and check yourself??  (Been there/done that, I have learned as I leave the house, I have to mentally go through, lights, doors, thermostats (after open houses) and I make a mental check box, when leaving, will often confirm to my clients, "all locked up" just so I have the physical reminder that house is secure. Your experiences?

I think I told you from the beginning, we are going to keep it real on here, if I didn't tell you that, I should have!
So, in interest of keeping it real, just putting this out there. I am heavy set, I need to lose some weight, quite a bit if we are just going to be really real! I have done all the fad diets, I have tried all the gimmicks. Because of personal beliefs, I will not consider having surgery, I have friends that have done really well with it, and I am SO very happy for them, I am not saying it is wrong, it is just not the right decision for me.

What works? Changing your eating habits and exercise, commitment to giving up an old lifestyle, and starting a new one. Sounds so easy, right?? Any of you that have been there, or are there, understand.

Real Estate is a life long dream, and I am starting to make a go of it, I have a few perspective clients, showing houses, making calls, sending letters, all in all, I am loving it! I am noticing my weight is a factor. Hot Texas summer, I hate sweating, especially when I am trying to show homes. Long hair, ugh... Now more than ever I just feel called to make those commitments and do what I need to do.

My wonderful hubby and I have been part of Weight Watchers for some time, we moved from meeting to meeting following a leader we liked, then we met a leader we love! Our meeting is amazing! We are not a meeting, we are Cuzins, out name tags say so! Tonight, we met as we do every Thursday at 6 pm, in Carrollton, then some of us went to dinner. I love our group. I guess I just shared this with you so I could stay accountable, invite you out, and just put a little of me out there.

Will I let my weight stop me from doing what I want to in Real Estate, HECK no! Never give up on your dreams because someone does not believe you can, or think you should. Chase after them, even harder to prove that person wrong, Love yourself, and the people around you, we only get one ride on this great big world, make it all you can!!

Love you guys!

Greetings again from DFW.
The last week has been a complete roller coaster ride for me. I sat and watched the events last Thursday like a sick addiction. Not knowing what to do, but just sit and pray for all the lives lost. I found myself hoping the man they identified as a suspect wasn't, he looked like such a nice guy, so thankful his story checked out.
It felt like the loss of 9/11 all over again, only this time, the world was not coming together, there was hate for/among each other, the hate of Orlando loomed so recent in our minds. I felt heart broken. Monday morning as I read a couple articles, I just felt sick, so much back and fourth, so many lies and so much hate, I had to delete social media for a few days and just step back. Every time I found myself reaching to check social media, I prayed. I prayed a lot those first couple days. I don't have all the answers, I don't know the Bible front to back, I do know this:

John 13:34-35 ESV

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

The greatest commandment says to love. I hope my blog, my page, and my life is an example of this love.

Just felt like I needed to get that out there. I hope you all have an amazing week, and I adore you all!

Thank you,

Looking at homes...

What an amazing adventure! I am amazed at what is out there in the market place, and selling for good money! Bob McCranie, my Broker at Texas Pride Realty and I went to look at homes. We started over $150k, some with pools, some without, we walked the floor plans, and he told me things to look for, how to walk the floor, yeah, kind of odd, how you walk the floor matter, a lot! He told me about windows, and pools, ceilings, and garages, SO incredibly much to learn. He talked to be about being a buyer's agent, truly caring about this investment they are about to make. So thankful he has integrity, and the willingness to just walk away. Don't be afraid to walk away! If you are looking at that house, and something does not sit right with you, listen to that little voice, walk away!

On weekends, I have been going to model homes, seeing all there is to see there. Beautiful, open floor plans, loving the modern look/open feel.

If you could have any house you chose, price was NO object, what amenities would you want? HOA or no?

Starting at the beginning....where else?

Good Morning!
I am new to this blogging thing, and new to Real Estate, why not combined then and learn both at once?

I have wanted to be a Realtor all my life, shadowed for it in high school, planned for it in college, then got married, had a baby, and became a single mom for 12ish years. Terrified me to think about doing real estate as a single momma, never knowing when I might get that first or second sale, so, I left that dream behind, and found a new one. I raised my son, found a good church, found a wonderful man, we raised my son, found a wonderful church. My son graduated high school, has his own dreams, and my first dream still lingered. My hubby told me to go for it, so I did! I took the classes, I got my license, I found an amazing broker, I became a Realtor, I am training, and learning, and looking forward to sharing the experience with you! As I learn, I will share it here, have a real estate question, I will see if I can find an answer. Need a Realtor, I will be happy to offer my services to you. Let's get started!
